my subject for this blog is going to be how the influences of rock & roll affected our culture, how we live today, and what outside forces influenced these changes. i will go in depth in the bands [both early and recent] that have, in some form, shaped society to how it is today. but i wont just stay with bands in the US i will also look at bands from other countries and such. i also want to see what people thought of rock&roll then and what they think of it now; i will follow the path of rock and its influences over the decades.
i want to learn about the aspects of this lifestyle and how those influences tie into society today because what "they" [people in the public eye] do directly affects society as a whole.
Elvis Presley
Elvis, in his early years, was not on drugs but created an uproar in society. People also thought he was on drugs long before he ever was.
Jimi Hendrix
Very crucial to the 60's Rock movement. He had very bad drug use and died in the early 70's from a drug over dose.
Janis Joplin
Like Jimi she was very crucial in the sixties and also died of a drug overdose around the time that he did.
Pink Floyd
A very popular band from the 70's to present day.
Led Zeppelin
Very popular and crucial band in the sense of developing Rock and Roll and setting the image.
U2
U2 is a band thats been around since the early 80's/late 70's. None of their music has profanity in it. They also started out as a christian band.
